Ghana’s Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has said the teaching profession in Ghana will look more attractive and meet the global standard after licensing teachers in the country from Monday, May 17, 2021.
Speaking at the Ghana teacher license and registration launch Friday, Dr. Yaw Adutwum said the licensing was not to demean the profession but to make the job more professional and look attractive just like others.
The teaching Minister commending teachers assured them their sacrifices will not be in vain adding that the “Education Ministry will continue to work with teachers and professionalized them to do their job very well.”
“As a teacher, I am proud to be here to talk about licensing of teachers. I called myself the ‘Teacher in-Chief’ because I think my job is to ensure the profession improved to the highest standards,” he said as quoted by GNA.
The Minister of Education furthered that the Education Ministry and the Ghana Education Service (GES) are setting up special teachers portal for teachers to register their grievances on the platform for a solution.
“We will assign case managers who will handle the issues to make sure that the complaints are resolved, When they are resolved, there will be a dashboard for me to know,” the Educationist told teachers on Friday.
“I want to remove the impediments of teachers and improve their welfare issues to do their job well”, the Bosomtwe Member of Parliament added.
The National Teaching Council (NTC) Monday will commence licensing teachers in the country who were recruited after September 1, 2018.
