The current Majority leader in Ghana’s Parliament, Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has disclosed the Akufo-Addo government last year spent GHS 75.4 million on WASSCE fees of 314,000 final years Senior High School students.
The Suame Member of Parliament announced this Friday reading the 2021 Budget statement on behalf of the Finance Minister-designate Ken Ofori Atta in Parliament, Accra monitored by Educationweb.com.gh.
“We paid 2020 WASSCE examination fees amounting to GHS 75.4 million for 314,000 third-year Senior High School students,” Hon Kyei Mensah stated.
President Akufo-Addo speaking in his first State of the Nation Address in his second-term Presidency on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, announced the government will this year also absorb the WASSCE registration fees.
The absorption of the 2021 WASSCE fees according to His Excellency will ensure all the final year public Senior High School students preparing to sit for the 2021 edition WASSCE for School Candidates are duly registered.
