The Bosomtwe MP speaking at a press briefing monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh said the double-track system is a temporarily method to contain enrollment in SHSs amid lack of infrastructure but will be removed soon.

“So the double-track system is a leapfrog strategy, it is time tested, I have taught in the program in America of all places where there is money, they use it in California until they had the money to take it away,” the Minister stated.

According to him, some Senior High Schools including the Kumasi-based Prempeh College and Kumasi High School have been taken of the schools running the green, gold track system for students and are running single-track system.

“Those that are running double-track are seeing more infrastructure expansion. In some schools, the track system is no more there. The years to phase out the gold and green track has been reduced to 2 to 3 years,” Adutwum stated.
