President Nana Akufo-Addo says the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) under the auspices of the Government of Ghana (GoG) will this year introduce new measures to curb examination leakages and malpractices.
Akufo-Addo announced this speaking in his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in his second-term government monitored by Educationweb.com.gh on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at the Parliament House, Accra.
“The Government of Ghana (GoG) through the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will this year introduce new measures to curb examination leakages and malpractice,” His Excellency Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo stated.
He said this form part of his government’s effort to improve quality education and ensure students in the country become globally competitive and maintain the integrity of the national examinations and assessment.
A WAEC official following the new measures has told Educationweb.com.gh the Council this year is considering to use mobile phone jammers at exams centres to reduce cases of examination malpractices and leakages.
