BECE resit: Gov’t to pay registration fees of failed 2020 candidates

The Director-General of GES, Prof Kwasi-Opoku Amankwa has said the government will absorb registration fees of all public school students who could not pass last year’s BECE but would like to resit the exams this year.

Speaking on the Accra-based Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show monitored by Educationweb.com.gh, Prof Opoku Amankwa said there is a second chance for 2020 BECE candidates who could not meet the required grade.

His comment comes after he was asked if a failed candidate can resit the 31st edition of BECE for School candidates scheduled for November 2021.

According to him, such candidates should go back to their completed public Junior High School (JHS) and register for the teachers prepare them to sit for the forthcoming 2021 BECE for School candidates examination.

“So if you could not pass last 2020 BECE, kindly go back to the school you completed and register, the government will absorb the registration fees for you to write again and pass,” he told the host of Kokrokoo show.

The Director-General furthered that candidates who do not want to register at their former school can alternatively register for the BECE for Private candidates conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
