Gifty Twum-Ampofo after her nomination as Deputy Education Minister was suspended by the Appointments Committee Tuesday was approved by the Parliament of Ghana as the Deputy Minister for Education.
The Abuakwa North MP suspension comes after Tamale North MP expressed dissatisfaction with her handling of questions during the vetting regarding a CDD’s Corruption Watch assessment of the last NPP parliamentary primaries
According to Alhassan Suhuyini, while Madam Twum-Ampofo had admitted to offering NPP delegates in the Abuakwa North Constituency with GH₵1500 and a flat-screen television each during the party’s primaries, she lacked candour and conscience when questioned at her vetting on Thursday, June 10, 2021.
But, a 7th report of the Appointment Committee sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh, presented and debated on the floor of parliament indicates Madam Gifty Twum-Ampofo has been approved by the census.
In a related development, Assin South Member of Parliament, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour has similarly been approved as Deputy Minister for Education to serve in President Nana Akufo-Addo’s second term government.
His Excellency Akufo-Addo following the approval of the nomination of two Deputy Ministers for Education at the appropriate time will swear them into the office to assist Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum.
