3 Ghanaian students have swept all the top three International Excellence awards organized by the non-profit-making organization (WAEC) to honour candidates who performed outstandingly in the just ended 2020 WASSCE.
Cecil Tetteh Kumah former student of Mfantsipim Senior High School and currently studying Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science at Columbia University in the USA was named 2020 WASSCE best candidate.
According to the West African Examinations Council, Cecil Tetteh Kumah had a total score of 650.1328 after the conduct of the national examination.
Master Cecil Tetteh Kumah formerly of Mfantsipim Senior High School was adjudged the Overall Best Student in the 2020 WASSCE written by over two million candidates from the five participating countries.
He at the International Excellence awards was presented with a $1,500 cheque for emerging the overall best candidates of the examination written by over two million candidates from the five participating countries.
Mr Godfred Aseda Obeng, also from Ghana and a former student of the Hope College was adjudged the second overall best candidate. The brilliant student is currently studying at Ghana’s premier university (UG-Legon).
He had a total score of 625.6953 and was awarded $1,200.
Ms Afua Manukure Ansah, a 2016 Spelling Bee Champion and currently studying at the Cornell University, USA, took home $900. She had a total score of 624. 640 making her the overall third best Ghanaian student.
