The Deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Education, Mr Yaw Opoku Mensah after graduate teachers raised concerns over the recruitment deadline has said the Ghana Education Service will recruit teachers before December 31, 2021.
Speaking to EducationWeb.com.gh on Thursday, the Education Ministry spokesperson said even though the 2021 academic year is about to end however his outfit and the GES are working to start the recruitment process.
In line with Mr Yaw Opoku Mensah, a staff of GES has also said newly trained teachers who have completed national service and passed licensure examination before the financial clearance recruitment deadline will be employed.
“We hope that we recruit more graduates before the end of December 31, 2021, because our financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance is to ensure that we employ before December 31, 2021,” he stated in a short interview.
The GES official has therefore urged tertiary institution graduates seeking to be employed into service to pay attention to job announcements put out by his outfit in terms of what criteria the recruitment financial clearance is.
The Ministry of Finance (MoF) recruitment financial clearance for the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to recruit new graduates into service for the 2021 academic year will expire December 31 this year.
The central government through the Ministry of Finance this year has granted three Ministries (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Interior and Ministry of National Security) financial clearance to recruit some 11,840 new staff into service.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education (MoE) early this year was granted financial clearance by the Finance Ministry for the Ghana Education Service (GES) to recruit 600 Information and Communication Technology (ICT) coordinators.
“The GES is to ensure that the ICT coordinators have their documents processed in time and placed on the mechanized payroll early enough to enable the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department effect payment,” it stated.
Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta in a letter sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh said the financial clearance for the recruitment of new staff into service will commence from August 1, 2021, and end December 31, 2021.
