Micheal Owusu Afriyie in a post sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh, however, did not state the reason for his dismissal but he described the Ghana Education Service (GES) basis for relieving him of his duty as ‘very funny’.

“Okay, so for some “professional” reasons I can’t post the content of the letter here but all that is in the letter is that My District Education Office through the Ghana Education Service (GES) says that, they have sacked me

Their reasons are very funny. This is going to be the 1st ever teacher vs GES fight in the history of Ghana Education Service (GES) Y’all relax because it will be all over the news soon and y’all will know the head and tail of it

“The letter given to me yesterday is dated “27th October 2021”. Meaning, they have typed the letter a long time and was looking for an opportunity but since they don’t get it, they have given it to me like that,” he said in his post.

Before teacher Kwadwo’s dismissal, he was summoned by the Akrofuom District Education Directorate under the auspices of the Ghana Education Service in early August 2021 for violating the rules and regulations of the service.

The comedian has been one of the most outspoken educators in recent years, urging the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Government of Ghana (GoG) to improve the country’s educational system.

The Ghanaian celebrity teacher, Michael Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Teacher Kwadwo in his recent #FIXGES campaign described the various Teacher Unions in the country as useless citing that all they know is savings and loans.

Speaking in an interview with the Kumasi-based Nhyira FM monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh, the popular teacher said the unions after deducting dues from the government teachers salary lends them the dues for profit.

“All the teacher unions in the country are very very useless, all they do is saving and loans, if not robbery how come they deduct dues from ‘poor’ teachers salary and later give to them as loans with interest,” he told the radio station.
