The agency in charge of recruiting and posting teachers (GES) says it will during this year’s recruitment process give alternatives to graduates teachers who had sat and passed the teacher licensure examination.
Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Prof Kwasi-Opoku Amankwa in an interview monitored by Educationweb.com.gh said teachers after selecting their preferred 3 regions will be asked a question.
According to him, graduate teachers if not posted to any of their preferred selected three regions would be asked if they are comfortable been posted to other regions where teaching vacancies are available and service needed
“So in our next recruitment, we will ask if you will be comfortable been posted to other regions in case you miss postings to your selected 3 regions indicated on the application for recruitment form,” the GES official stated.
The Director-General said the qualified graduates on the GES recruitment application form will tick either YES or No to confirm their status adding that an extra two regions might be selected to the chosen three regions.
Prof Kwasi Opoku comment comes after a newly posted teacher complained he was posted to a region he did not select during the recruitment process.

“For us it is in good faith that we post them, there may be no vacancy available at a particular region, but we don’t want them stay home, so we post them to where vacancies are available,” he told UTV’s Agya Kwabena.
