The Ministry of Finance recruitment financial clearance for the Ghana Education Service to recruit new graduates into service for the 2021 academic year will expire December 31 this year, a staff of GES has told EducationWeb.com.gh.

Speaking to EducationWeb on Thursday, the Ghana Education Service (GES) official said his outfit is working tirelessly to ensure more graduate teachers are recruited before the end of the recruitment clearance deadline.

He said even though the year is about to end but the Management of GES before December 31, 2021, will announce the recruitment of graduates who had completed national service and sat and passed the teacher licensure exams.

“We hope that we recruit more graduates before the end of December 31, 2021, because our financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance is to ensure that we employ before December 31, 2021,” he stated in a short interview.

The staff of the Education Service further advised tertiary institution graduates seeking to be employed into service to pay attention to job announcements put out by his outfit in terms of what criteria the recruitment financial clearance is.

The government through the Ministry of Finance this year has granted three Ministries (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Interior and Ministry of National Security) financial clearance to recruit 11,840 new staff into service.

Meanwhile, The Finance Ministry has granted the Ministry of Education (MoE) a financial clearance to enable the Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to recruit 600 ICT coordinators for the Education Service this year.

The coordinators, the Finance Ministry in a statement said must have their documents processed in time and placed on the mechanized payroll to enable the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department to effect payment.

“The GES is to ensure that the ICT coordinators have their documents processed in time and placed on the mechanized payroll early enough to enable the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department effect payment.”

Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta in a letter sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh said the financial clearance for the recruitment of new staff into service will commence from August 1, 2021, and end December 31, 2021.

“The financial clearance to all the government agencies will expire on December 31, 2021, and as such, the Ministries are to ensure that the recruitment is carried out before the expiration date,” the financial clearance letter stated.
