The Ghana Education Service (GES) led by its Director-General Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa Friday as part of the Green Ghana project planted more than 100 fruity seedlings at the campus of Accra Girls’ SHS.
The move was to commemorate the Green Ghana Campaign launched in May 2021 by the President of the Republic, Nana Akufo-Addo as an initiative targeted at bringing back the greenery environment in Ghana.
Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa in a short address urged staff and students across the country to nurture the seedlings that have been planted to ensure that they will grow into useful greeny trees.
Mrs Gifty Andoh, the Headmistress of Accra Girls SHS assured the Ghana Education Service Director-General and staff that a plan has been put in place to take good care of the plants.
The Director-General and the Headmistress were full of praise to representatives of the Accra Girls Old Students Association for participating fully in the programme.
