Ghana’s Education Service will soon lay out specific guidelines for Heads of Schools on how to manage cases of hairstyle related issues that may come up in the future, Education Minister, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum has said.
Dr Adutwum announced this Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Parliament commenting on matters arising at the Achimota School concerning two dreadlocked students the Motown Headmistress denied admission.
“The Ghana Education Service will soon lay out specific guidelines for Heads of Schools on how to proceed in such situations in future,” he noted.
He speaking on the floor of Parliament said the Accra-based Achimota Senior High School (Motown) had carved a niche as a school of inclusion, and a beacon of hope for many young men and women.
The Bosomtwe Member of Parliament indicated the Education Ministry has been facilitating meetings between the GES, Achimota School, and the Parents of the two students to help find a lasting solution to the issue.
