Education Economist, Mr Peter Anti following the postponement of the conduct of 2021 WASSCE physics and Business Management papers after it leaked on social media has said that is not the best solution to end examination leakages.
The two WASSCE papers scheduled to be administered today Wednesday, September 15, 2021, according to a source close to the Examinations Council responsible for the conduct of the examination was postponed over mass leakage.
“Today’s Physics and Business Management papers 1& 2 have been re-scheduled indefinitely by the West African Examinations Council. The Apo is too much Abah,” the source told EducationWeb.com.gh on Wednesday.
Commenting on the unfortunate incident, Mr Partey said the issue of the examination leakages recorded each year during the administration of WAEC exams cannot be curtailed by the nullification of some questions papers.
“The issue of exams leakages cannot be curtailed by undertaking either nullification of some papers or a shambolic investigation which has proven to be ineffective because this problem is simply a demand and supply issue,” he stated
He said the annual question papers leakage will only stop if the Ministry of Education (MoE) and West African Examinations Council (WAEC) stop ranking Senior High Schools base on their performance in the WASSCE.
“This puts a lot of pressure on students and parents. I dare say that these two groups of people will find ways and means to enable the student to go through the WASSCE successfully,” the Education Economist noted.
Over 446,000 final year students representing 221,437 males and 234,884 females from 965 Senior High Schools i.e 651 public schools and 314 private schools in Ghana are partaking in the ongoing international examination.
The non-profit-making organization (WAEC) is yet to communicate a new date to administer the two suspended West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) papers to the general public and the final year students.
