The think tank in a post sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh said the external probe will not give clue about the source of the leaks but also identify staff and contractors of WAEC responsible for the leakages to be sanctioned.

“This investigation not only give a clue about the actual source of leaks but will also provide a basis for certain staff and contractors of WAEC to be properly sanctioned for their actions that may have led to the massive leaks,” it stated.

Africa Education Watch added that “If there is no responsibility, there cannot be accountability. the West African Examinations Council must be held responsible for the leaks, and should never again be allowed to investigate itself.”

In a related development, the Management of the non-profit-making organization (WAEC) has condemned the 2021 Ghana WASSCE report by the Africa Education Watch (EduWatch) saying it contains some inaccuracies.

WAEC at a press briefing said some Senior High Schools the Watch said it monitored during the conduct of the 2021 WASSCE are schools that do not exist and did not participate in the just-ended international examination.

“It must be pointed out that Insaniyaa SHS, one of the schools that were reported to have been monitored by Eduwatch does not currently exist. The school was closed down in January 2021,” WAEC told journalists.

The spokeswoman for the Examinations Council, Mrs Teye Cudjoe speaking at the press conference said no candidate was registered by Insaniyaa SHS, for the WASSCE (SC) 2021, neither was the school used as an examination centre.

She however said the Council has taken serious notice of the allegations made in the report of malpractices in certain Senior High Schools and will probe the issue further to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the claims made.
