The Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum after Producers of National Science and Maths Quiz crowned Prempeh College winner of this year’s quiz competition Wednesday paid a working visit to the NSMQ champions.
He congratulated the contestants who represented the Kumasi-based school for their outstanding performance and teachers for their enormous contribution and support to the students for winning the NSMQ title for the fifth time.
“I visited winners of the 2021 NSMQ in their school in Kumasi. I congratulated the contestants and teachers for their gallant performance at the just ended NSMQ,” the Education Minister said in a post sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh.
The Bosomtwe Member of Parliament and Teaching Minister climaxed his surprising visit with an open forum with the teachers of Prempeh College after which he donated an amount to the Prempeh College Teachers’ welfare fund.
Ashanti Region’s very own all Boys’ Prempeh College after several rounds in the final stage of the science and maths quiz contest beat Keta Senior High Technical and Presbyterian Boys School to win the 2021 competition.
The College secured 53 points to win the contest while the Legon-based Presbyterian Boys School had 49 points and Keta Senior High Technical School, the first school from the Volta Region to make it to the final, had 30 points.
As the ultimate winner of the quiz, Prempeh College took home the coveted trophy and a cash of GH¢80,000. GH¢40,000 would go to the school while the teachers and the contestants would share the rest GH¢20,000.00 each.
The Education Minister Wednesday in an interview with a Kumasi-based radio station pledged to support Volta-Region-based Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO) for their excellent performance in the just-ended quiz.
According to PrimeTime, organizers of the quiz programme, Keta school is the first Senior High School from the Volta-Region to make it for the final stage of the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) since its commencement.
