Dr Adutwum, the Minister for Education after the Ghana Education Service (GES) changed the 2022 academic calendar from trimester to semester system says a new date to conduct the 2022 BECE School in due course will be announced.
In a discussion monitored by EducationWeb, he said the management of the Ghana Education Service and West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will meet and determine a suitable date to administer the national examination
Asked if heads of public Junior High Schools (JHS) have been directed to charge parents for the 2022 BECE registration, Mr Osei Yaw replied ‘No’ adding that headteachers that demand money for the registration will be punished.
“The government has absorbed the BECE registration fees of all public Junior High Schools. It is not true we have directed heads of schools to demand money for the registration,” the Education Minister told a television station.
Ahead of the conduct of the 32nd edition of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), the non-profit-making organization (WAEC) says it will commence the registration process from Tuesday May 3, 2022 to Friday June 10, 2022.
WAEC in a statement copied to EducationWeb said only third-year students in various public and private Junior High Schools (JHSs) across the country will be considered for the forthcoming 2022 BECE for School registration.
Explaining the soon to commence 2022 BECE School registration process, the African Examinations Council said May 3 to June 10, 2022, will be used for capturing eligible final year students’ information, subject selection and pictures.
Downloading of CASS software, capturing of candidates’ scores and subsequent uploading of data online the management of the not-for-profit-making organization said will start from June 27, 2022, to August 12, 2022.
According to the Council, the downloading of school choices software, selection of schools and subsequent uploading of data online will also begin on July 4, 2022, and end on September 2, 2022, for all schools across the country.
“Please note that it is extremely important that the correct subjects are selected during the registration exercise. Finalise your registration data only after all corrections have been affected,” WAEC said in the release to school heads.
