The Bosomtwe Member of Parliament and Education Minister-designate, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum following his new ministerial appointment will be vetted on February 11, 2021, the Parliament of Ghana has announced.
The vetting, of Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, comes after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo mentioned him as the new Minister of Education for the country in his second-term government until late 2024.
Bosomtwe Member of Parliament prior to his new ministerial appointment as the Education Minister-designate from 2017 to 2020 served as Deputy Minister for Education in charge of Pre-tertiary Education.
He took over from former Minister of Education and Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh popularly known as NAPO who according to His Excellency will serve at the Enerygy Ministry.
The teaching Minister when vetted and approved by the House on February 11, 2021, as indicated in a timetable sighted by Educationweb.com.gh this year will officially be declared as Ghana’s Minister of Education.
Relevant stakeholders in the education sector and teachers in the country following the educationist appointment has commended His Excellency Akufo-Addo saying he has taken a good and a right decision.
According to the teachers, unlike the former Education Minister who is a medical doctor by profession, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum as a school proprietor and professional teacher will better understand them in the field.
