The University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) has awarded former Education Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh a Doctor of Humane Letters (DHL) degree for his contribution to education in Ghana from 2017 to 2020.
In his address at the 13th Congregation of the university, NAPO traced the influence on his life and love for learning at an early age and recounted some of the successes our team chalked at the Ministry of Education.
Among other successes, the Minister for Energy mentioned was the implementation of the free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme as well as curriculum, teacher and TVET reforms.
The Manhyia South Member of Parliament also paid tribute to the many individuals in the education sector whose hard work and dedication enabled his office to achieve those achievements.
“I am grateful to President Akufo-Addo for the opportunity to serve as his Education Minister in his first term. I am also grateful to the UPSA Council and the entire UPSA community for this beautiful honour today,” he stated.
Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh in President Akufo-Addo’s second term was appointed to serve as the Minister for Education. He is currently the Minister in charge of Energy in Akufo-Addo’s second term government.
