A candidate of the Dadieso SHS partaking in the ongoing 2021 WASSCE for School on Wednesday was arrested for his involvement in examination malpractice, the West African Examinations Council has told the Daily Graphic newspaper.
The spokeswoman for the Examinations Council, Mrs Agnes Teye Cudjoe briefing the newspaper about the incident said an invigilator is currently wanted for taking a snapshot of the Oral English paper while the exam was ongoing.
According to her, the candidate whose name is withheld has been released on bail as the security operative of the West African Examinations Council are on the manhunt for the invigilator who is also a teacher of the Dadieso SHS.
The Dadieso invigilator, Mrs Agnes Teye Cudjoe said took a snapshot of the just ended 2021 WASSCE Oral English paper of the arrested but bailed candidate and uploaded it on a social media platform for mass circulation.
“The candidate in question has been granted bail and the invigilator on a manhunt, for the matter it had been reported to the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amakwa,” she noted.
The WAEC official disclosed that while the Oral English paper was written, the said photo was circulated on various social media platforms, an act she said goes against the conduct of the international examination.
Meanwhile, the non-profit-making organization (WAEC) ahead of the administration of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) urged supervisors and invigilators to be of good conduct and be vigilant.
In a blog post sighted by EducationWeb.com.gh, the Council stated “we urge supervisors and invigilators them to be vigilant, refrain from taking their mobile phones to the examination hall, and carry out their duties as expected.
