CSSPS sends message to 16,539 students denied SHS placement

The management of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) has asked some 16,539 students it denied SHS placement over failure to prepare and sit for the 2022 edition of BECE for School.

A staff of the placement system explaining why over 16,000 candidates who partook in the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) were not placed said they had an aggregate of 9 in English Language or Mathematics.

He told EducationWeb per the guideline of the computer placement policy, grade 9 in English or Mathematics students are not to be given school placement, thus his outfit’s decision to deny such category of students school posting.

Asked if there is an opportunity for them to be placed into any of the public secondary schools after the 555,353 who qualified for placement have been posted, the CSSPS official said the only opportunity is for them to re-sit BECE.

Released on Friday, 555,353 students out of the 571,892 candidates who sat for the 2021 BECE administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) qualified to get school placement and benefit from the Free SHS policy.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) in a statement said a total of 367,811 students have automatically been placed in one of their preferred choices. About 187,542 the press release indicated will be doing self-placement from Saturday.

  3. The placement portaI is open. I just access it some minutes ago. It seems if you use Google chrome it displays system under maintenance. Try using a different web browser such as Mozilla fox or others.

  4. You people have been so unfair this year. And it was pretty useless to raise our hopes with the cut off points and likely schools to be placed in because you didn’t stick to your words one bit. How can grade fourteen be placed in a fourth choice school.
