As the Ministry of Education is expected to release the BECE SHS placement of 2021 candidates today Sunday, December 5, We urge parents to take an interest in their wards school and self-placement school selection process.
Educationweb.com.gh has noticed that parents of candidates and siblings each year storm the Black Stars Square to complain about the process of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
At this stage of the school placement and selection for second-cycle schools (self-placement), we encourage parents to make time and participate in the process. Ask questions and understand how the CSSPS system works.
Parents are to be sure of the child’s ability to be able to guide them away from choosing a school (and programmes) they are unlikely to get admission into or programmes they will not perform better after admission.
Pay attention to the child’s compulsory day choice. It must be a school the child can commute to if placed there as a day student and it can be a school from any category.
Assist your ward in doing self-placement and save yourself the headache of a trip to the Ministry of Education (MoE) because when the BECE SHS placement is completed in most cases nothing can be done.
Parents and BECE graduates are to note that you cannot switch or change courses once you get in, so the desired course must be carefully chosen.
The Director-General of GES, Professor Kwasi-Opoku Amankwa has said candidates this year can make school changes a couple of times before they finally enrolled in their preferred second-cycle school.
