41,953 BECE candidates disqualified for SHS placement – CSSPS

Some 41,953 BECE candidates who sat for the 2020 and 30th edition of the BECE for Private and Candidates were disqualified for school placement this year, Mark Sasu Mensah the National Coordinator of CSSPS has said.

According to the CSSPS official, the 41,953 candidates were denied placement into any of the 722 Senior High Schools amid issues with their Basic Education Certificate Examination results (BECE) and failure.

“Either you failed or had grade 9 in any of the core subjects, especially in English and Mathematics,” Mr Sasu stated as quoted by myjoyonline.com.

The CSSPS National Coordinator further said other BECE candidates who registered for all subjects but could not sit to write all of them especially Mathematics and English language were also disqualified.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) in a statement sighted by Educationweb.com.gh indicated a total of 343,264 2020 BECE candidates got automatic SHS placement and 151,266 left to do self-placement.

According to GES, 494,530 out of the 533,693 candidates who registered for last year’s examination qualified for school placement.
