The Ghana Education Service as part of efforts to ensure all candidates who sat for 2020 BECE and were qualified for placement have been enrolled in school has embarked on an operation to fill Ashanti region SHS vacancies.
The operation comes after the Free SHS Secretariat realized over 30,000 2020 JHS graduates across the country who have been placed in the various Senior High Schools are still not enrolled to start 2021 academic activities.
According to the Secretariat, in Ashanti Region, there are still about 10,000 prospective students who have been placed in the various Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the Region but have not gone for enrollment.
It in a purported statement from the Ghana Education Service sighted by Educationweb.com.gh has urged Heads of Junior High Schools with contact details of such students to contact the secretariat for immediate support.
“Please if you find any of them and they are not interested in their schools placed, contact the Regional Free SHS secretariat for support, it is our duty to ensure these students are enrolled and have an education.”
“Heads of Senior High Schools (SHSs) with vacancies could also encourage these students to join them while their stay will be regularised during the headcount exercise next week,” the Free SHS secretariat said in the release.
