The Management of the Accra-based Alsyd Academy has indefinitely closed down the school today January 18, 2021, after a teacher and a key official of the school board tested positive for the locally transmitted coronavirus.
Alsyd Academy in a statement copied to Myjoyonline and sighted by Educationweb.com.gh said: “it will in due course communicated a new school reopening date to students and parents”.
The school administration, however, said the Ministry of Education (MoE) is yet to be informed about the unfortunate incident in the school.
Students in the country following President Akufo-Addo’s assurance that schools have been made safe returned back to classrooms today to start the 2021/2022 academic year after 9 months of school closure amid COVID-19.
Akufo-Addo yesterday in his 22nd nation’s address said Personal protective equipment (PPEs) including a face mask, sanitizers, veronica buckets and roll of tissues have been distributed to schools to ensure the safety of students.
