Flashback: Akufo-Addo wants teachers salary increased – NAPO

Former Education Minister and Member of Parliament for the Manhyia South Constituency, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh last year today November 1, denoted President Akufo-Addo’s eagerness to increase teachers salary.

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh popularly known as NAPO disclosed this in an interview addressing the concerns of teachers on Peace FM’s Kokrooko show monitored by Educationweb.com.gh with host Kwame Sefa Kayi.

According to the immediate past Education Minister, Nana Akufo-Addo anytime gets angry when told how much teachers in the country receive as a monthly salary and demands an increment of the arrears.

“For the teachers salary, President Akufo-Addo when told gets angry and say NAPO increase the teacher’s salary arrears”, he told host Sefa Kayi.

But, Dr Nii Noi Ashong the Technical Adviser Ministry of Finance has said all public sector workers including government teachers until 2024 will not get any form of salary increment adding that “the country is broke.”
