WASSCE: Some candidates wrote us love letters – WAEC reveals

The West African Exams Council last year disclosed some candidates who sat for the 2020 edition of the WASSCE for School instead of giving answers to the examination questions penned down love stories on their answer booklet

The Head of Private Examinations – WAEC, Mrs Veronica Asante who disclosed this in an interview with Winifred Ampiaw monitored by EducationWeb.com.gh said the majority of the final year students were males and few females.

According to her, a female candidate on her examination answer booklet wrote “please help me to pass the exam because this is my fourth time sitting for WASSCE and if you help me I promise to do everything you want.”

The WAEC official further revealed that some of the final year Senior High School (SHS) students even added their telephone numbers for Examiners to contact them, an act she said is another form of examination malpractice.

The Management of the non-profit-making organization (WAEC) after ending the conduct of the 2021 edition of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination on October 8, 2021, is yet to release the results of candidates.

It following a purported statement circulating on social media that the results have been released online at the Council’s website has urged students, stakeholders and the general public to disregard such false information.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has also debunked allegations that it for profit purposes deliberately fail candidates who sit for the international examination (WASSCE) for them to register for Nov/Dec examination.

A member of the Examinations Council speaking to EducationWeb.com.gh on Friday said his outfit doesn’t fail or pass candidates for any benefit. “They are graded according to their performance in any of our examinations,” he added.

Asked when the Council intends to release the provisional WASSCE for School results he said “WAEC has completed marking of the examination scripts but results processing, as well as other post-examination activities, are ongoing.”
