Monty Williams is a former NBA player and current head coach of the Phoenix Suns. He was born on October 8, 1971, in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Williams attended Potomac High School in Dumfries, Virginia, where he was a standout basketball player. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Notre Dame, where he played basketball for four years and was a team captain in his senior year.

After retiring from playing, Williams became an assistant coach for the Portland Trail Blazers, before moving on to become an assistant coach for the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans and the Oklahoma City Thunder. In 2019, Williams was named the head coach of the Phoenix Suns.

Monty Williams’ wife was named Ingrid Williams. Ingrid and Monty were married in 1995 and had five children together. Tragically, Ingrid passed away in a car accident in February 2016.
