C-Knight, a well-known rapper and a founding member of the G-funk group The Dove Shack, sadly passed away on November 7, 2023. His real name was Arnez Blount.

Early Life and Career

C-Knight, born on June 15, 1971, grew up in Long Beach’s 21st Street neighborhood. His early interest in rapping was shaped by artists such as Run-DMC, LL Cool J, and N.W.A. He, along with Bo-Roc and 2Scoops, formed The Dove Shack and made their debut on Warren G’s 1994 album “Regulate… G Funk Era.” Their most notable track, “Summertime in the LBC,” reached No. 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1995. The group released two albums, “This Is the Shack” in 1995 and “Reality’s Got Me Tied Up” in 2006. C-Knight also released a solo album, “Knight Time,” in 2001.

Legacy

C-Knight was a trailblazer in the G-funk style of rap, which fused elements of funk, soul, and gangsta rap. He was known for his smooth delivery, clever lyrics, and laid-back style. Additionally, he played a role in launching Snoop Dogg’s career by lending him a typewriter to write his raps.

Cause of Death

C-Knight was hospitalized due to critically high blood sugar levels. During his hospital stay, he suffered a stroke, leading to a cardiac arrest. Although medical professionals managed to revive him, he remained in a comatose state with no signs of improvement. After being on life support for several weeks, the difficult decision was made to withdraw life support, and he passed away at the age of 52.

Personal Life

C-Knight kept his personal life private. He is survived by his father, George Lee Washington Blount Jr., and had two siblings: a brother named George Lee Washington Blount III and a sister named Arnetta Blount.
